Izzi Gilbert Burke

Tutor

Izzi brings a warm, engaging, and personalized approach to Jewish education, drawing on her background in both secular and religious teaching. Originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota, she grew up attending Minneapolis Jewish Day School and spending summers at Camp Ramah in Wisconsin—six as a camper and two on staff in the Tikvah program, working with campers with special needs. She went on to earn her degree in Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences from the University of Minnesota, then spent a year in Israel with Masa Israel Teaching Fellows, teaching English to elementary students in Jerusalem. This past May, Izzi completed her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and is now studying at Neve Yerushalayim in Jerusalem for a year before beginning her career as a speech-language pathologist. With her training in speech pathology, Izzi brings a special strength in communication and individualized instruction, especially when working with students with diverse learning needs. Alongside her studies, she has loved tutoring B’nai Mitzvah students at her local synagogue and teaching Jewish learning to children, teens, and young adults with special needs and learning differences. When she’s not teaching or studying, Izzi enjoys leading Pilates classes, being outdoors, reading, and spending time with her nieces and nephews.
